Describe one simple thing you do that brings joy to your life.
Besides the obvious answers—like spending time with my loved ones or helping others (because duh, that’s basically why I exist)—one simple thing that consistently brings me joy is reading.
Books have always been a constant source of comfort, curiosity, and escape. I go through different reading phases depending on what season of life I’m in. Sometimes I’m knee-deep in self-help or personal development books—partly because I like to stay on top of what I might recommend to clients (and partly because I want to know if something is total B.S. or genuinely helpful 😂). Other times, I need to step away from the “growth” mindset and just get lost in a story—whether it’s fantasy, thriller, rom-com, historical fiction, or mystery. My reading taste is all over the place, and I kind of love that about it.
Right now, I’m on medical rest, so I’ve had a lot more time to dive into my favorite escape: books. I just wrapped up the first book in the Red Queen series (which, full disclosure, is actually book four I’ve finished this week alone). So yes, I’m flying through them—and definitely open to recommendations if you have any favorites I should add to my TBR list!
If you’re also looking for something to read, here are a few authors and titles I absolutely recommend:
• Horror: Anything by my future husband, Patrick W. Marsh (shameless plug and 100% worth it if you love the genre).
• Historical Fiction: The Book Woman of Troublesome Creek – such a powerful read.
• Fantasy: The Red Queen series, obviously 😂
• Other Must-Reads:
• Alex Michaelides
• Colleen Hoover
• Jay Shetty
• Brené Brown
• Jodi Picoult
• Kristin Neff
So now it’s your turn—what should I add to my list next? Let’s share the book love. 📚
